How to Get Involved with America Reads

First and foremost America Reads is a Federal Work Study Program. Therefore, you must be eligible for Federal Work Study to become a tutor.

Once you have established your Federal Work Study eligibility, you need to contact Brenda Shaver in Financial Aid. Send her an email with your name, student ID number, and a short explanation as to your desire to become an America Reads tutor. She will then confirm your eligibility for Federal Work Study and then send your name and information to us.

Once you have performed these steps you may contact America Reads by phone or email to let us know that you are interested. We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Keep in mind that if you are interested in America Reads following the previous instructions are the first steps to becoming a tutor.
