Counselor Education

Counselor Education students in community counseling, school counseling, and student affairs complete both practicum and internship experiences during their course of study. The practicum is designed to help students develop requisite counseling skills and knowledge of the applied setting.  The internship provides students with experience in all aspects of professional functioning applicable to their program track.  The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) standards are the guidelines for use in implementing field experience requirements.

Students are required to attend a field experience orientation meeting the semester prior to beginning practicum and will receive notice of this meeting by Clemson student email.

See field experience manual (pdf) for more information.
