Name: Callie Grace Boyd
School or Department: Public Health Science
Major: BS in Health Science: Pre-professional health
Minor: Business Administration
Why did you choose your particular area of study? My desire to serve those in need has been a motivating force in studying public health. I thought that this was the perfect major for truly impacting others lives.
What skills have you learned that will allow you to affect change in our society? I believe that I have learned how to be a leader. I have had the pleasure of leading a wide variety of groups on campus, from a small group Bible study to serving as student body president. I believe this will allow me to be a leader in our society that are in desperate need of leaders.
Which member of the HEHD faculty will you remember most? Why? HEHD is full of great faculty, staff, and administration. I have truly enjoyed getting to know my outstanding professors, like Dr. Karen Kemper, Dr. Corey Chambers, and Mrs. Meyer, my advisor, Dr. Falta, as well as, support staff and our dean, Dr. Allen.
What is your most memorable event from your time in college? My time at Clemson has been full of outstanding experiences. One experience that sticks out the most is the passage of the Medical Alcohol Amnesty Policy. I worked for almost one full year to ensure that this policy, that helps keep students safe, was approved. It faced stiff opposition from certain administrators on campus and it was a memorable experience to see it approved.
What would you do differently if you had to start over as a freshman? I would have gotten more involved on campus as a freshman. When I first arrived at Clemson, I was overwhelmed with so much going on and believe that I could have impacted Clemson more had I gotten involved earlier.
What are your goals after graduation? I would like to work in the health care field; however, my final career goal is uncertain. I want to help advance medical care in our country.
Why did you choose Clemson University? I visited the campus while in high school and fell in love with Clemson. I felt at home when I visited. The people were so nice and accommodating. At the same time I knew that Clemson was a world class research institution. It was the best of both worlds.

Favorite Quote: "The master in the ART of living makes little distinction between his
work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body,
his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He
hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence
at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is WORKING or
playing. To him he's always doing both." ~ James Michener
