Carolina Clear is administered by a team of Extension Service personnel. Feel free to contact any of us at any time for more information! Below are brief bios on each team member.
Katie Giacalone is the statewide coordinator of Carolina Clear. Katie comes to Clemson with a background in GIS mapping, an understanding of pollutant fate and transport as well as experience with microbial source tracking and building regional collaboration.

Calvin Sawyer, Ph.D. is an Extension Associate and the Associate Director of the Center for Watershed Excellence, as well as one of the original developers of the Carolina Clear program. Cal currently serves as the Extension Water Quality Coordinator and co-teaches the CEPSCI Certification course.

Bill Blackston is an Extension Agent Emeritus and the Carolina Clear coordinator for the Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium. Bill brings to Carolina Clear exceptional collaboration-building skills, an understanding of stormwater management practices, and a great interest in improving the use of low impact development in the Midlands.

David Joyner is the Carolina Clear coordinator of the Ashley Cooper Stormwater Education Consortium and a Natural Resource Agent for Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester and Beaufort Counties. David brings to Carolina Clear his background and experiences as a researcher in hydrology, wetlands, GIS, water resource management and environmental policy.

Marguerite Porter is the Pickens County 4-H Youth Agent and Carolina Clear coordinator in charge of youth education in the Pickens region. She brings to Carolina Clear her background in Environmental and Biological Education as well as knowledge of water quality assessment and watershed management.

Benjamin Powell is the Carolina Clear coordinator of the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium and a Natural Resource Agent for Horry and Georgetown Counties. Ben brings to Carolina Clear his background and research in aquatic macroinvertebrate biology, invasive aquatic species, and water quality assessment. If you've ever heard of "Buggin Out with Ben," this is him!

Mary Nevins is the Carolina Clear coordinator for Richland and Sumter Counties. Mary brings to Carolina Clear her background in biology and ecology, as well as her experiences in environmental education, specializing in youth education.

Angela Crouch is a Clemson Extension Agent in the Charleston County office. She is the coordinator of Community Pride Inc., of Charleston County, a non-profit organization that promotes environmental stewardship and beautification. She is also the local Adopt-A-Highway coordinator and works with Carolina Clear to manage the storm drain marking program in the Ashley Cooper Stormwater Education Consortium.

Erin Menchhofer is the Carolina Clear Youth Program Coordinator for the Ashley Cooper Stormwater Education Consortium. She brings to Carolina Clear her background in Environmental and Youth Education. Erin works with the 4-H program, coordinates regional camps, and implements youth programming, as well as supporting youth outreach of consortium partners.
