We regret to announce that due to damages from the hurricane to our trail and lake, we will be unable to hold our annual Pee Dee Outdoor Discovery Day event this year in May. Please stay tuned for future events!

Welcome to the Pee Dee Research and Education Center!
We provide a variety of natural science and agriculture programs for students and the public, all free or at minimal cost. We welcome schools, homeschool groups, and anyone else who's interested to come visit! Contact us to learn more about our program offerings and to schedule a tour.

We do not have regular public visiting hours, and most visits or tours must be scheduled in advance. Exceptions are self-guided tours of our Fenced Garden, and any PDREC Farm Field Days, agricultural workshops, etc. which are scheduled separately from our education programs. Most school programs are currently available Monday to Friday on a first-come-first-served basis, weather and staff schedules permitting. Please see our FAQs page and Schools page for more information on visiting policies.

We also hold several events every year that are open to the public, including our largest event, Pee Dee Outdoor Discovery Day, held each year in early May. For more information on events, contact us or visit our events page.

Have a question about our education programs and opportunities? Check out our FAQs page! Many common questions we get about our tours and programs can be found on this page.

Outdoor Education Trail

Learning with no halls, walls or fluorescent bulbs! The Outdoor Education Trail (OET) offers students a chance to get outside the classroom and experience science and technology in the great outdoors. On the OET, visitors can learn about the value of natural resources in our outdoor learning centers, conduct experiments, visit a replica Native American village, and much more! For more information, visit the Outdoor Education Trail website.
