As the assistant director for recruiting and inclusive excellence for student services, Bufford will assist with supporting graduate students and increasing the number of underrepresented faculty, staff and students in the College. She has been in student services for more than six years, including roles as an undergraduate recruiting program coordinator, financial aid counselor and satisfactory academic progress coordinator. As a first-generation college student, Bufford earned her Bachelor of Arts in both political science and sociology from Winthrop University in 2010, and she earned her master of education in higher education administration degree from Columbia College in 2015. Bufford is a resource for prospective students as they’re discovering the opportunities within the College of Science. She coordinates recruiting events for the College, manages the Student Ambassador and Peer Mentoring programs, and serves as the college liasion for the RiSE and Connections living-learning communities. Bufford can assist students with:

      • Scheduling college and department visits.
      • Exploring majors.
      • Learning how to become student ambassadors.
      • Learning how to become peer mentors.

As the assistant director for advising and professional development for student services, Hunter advises a variety of student populations, including Bridge to Clemson students interested in College of Science majors, students in Pre-Professional Health Studies and those on the pre-pharmacy track, and freshman students in the chemistry department. Hunter also advises students interested in study abroad opportunities and is the College-designated adviser for Accelerated Pathways to MUSC. He manages student enrichment and professional development opportunities. Hunter has worked in higher education for nine years. He is a third-generation Clemson graduate preceded by his father (1979) and grandfather (1956). He completed a Bachelor of Science in psychology degree in 2007 and earned a master of education degree in counselor education in 2009. Hunter advises a variety of student populations in the College of Science, including Bridge to Clemson students interested in College of Science majors, students in Pre-Professional Health Studies and those on the pre-pharmacy track, and freshman students in the chemistry department. Jennie LaMonte, Director, Scholar Dev, Clemson University, Clemson SC

As director of scholar development, LaMonte supports high-performing students to maximize their time at Clemson.  She works directly with students to ensure their success through professional strategic planning, including candidacy development for high-impact experiences such as research internships at national labs, international placements and scientific funding competitions. LaMonte has served as managing director of an international scholarship program, overseen federally funded project budgets, and supported implementation of her mentoring methodologies at highly selective university programs. An alumna of Wellesley College, Lehigh University, and Harvard University, as well as an award-winning adviser, LaMonte’s roles have included administrative and faculty positions at Phillips Academy Andover, the University of New Hampshire, New England College, Harvard College and North Carolina State University. When possible, LaMonte races sailboats with her husband, Mark A.L. Johnson.
