Cairen Withington is Assistant Academic Director for Research, Evaluation, and Public Relations, National Dropout Prevention Center/Network (NCPC/N), Clemson University, Clemson, SC. She holds an M.A. in Economics from the University of South Carolina, specializing in the economics of human capital and education; and a B.A. in English from the College of Charleston. Ms. Withington has more than 20 years of experience working with data collection, management, and analyses across a variety of disciplines. She has been with the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network since 2006. She was recently a key investigator on a major study by the Center involving research on career-focused education, "A Longitudinal Study of the South Carolina Personal Pathways to Success Initiative." Ms. Withington is an experienced dropout prevention researcher and program evaluator and her reports and publications are utilized by SEAs and LEAs in selection, design, and implementation of dropout prevention programs. As an assistant director of NDPC/N, she oversees research, evaluation, and public relations activities related to the center.
