Clemson University public health sciences sophomore Sarah Jordan traveled to Ghana during her winter break to help bring a sustainable water treatment business to a village that didn't have access to clean water. The School of Nursing Ph.D. in Healthcare Genetics program has the honor of being profiled in the inaugural edition of the new Clemson University Research magazine, Glimpse. Today’s society is suffering from a serious lack of play. Over the past few decades, outside play has been replaced by more sedentary activities, such as playing video games or watching television. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) has appointed Joel Williams, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Clemson University Department of Public Health Sciences to a three-year term as Chair of its Community Health Committee. The National Dropout Prevention Center at Clemson University has presented S.C. Rep. Jerry N. Govan Jr. the Governor and Mrs. Richard W. Riley Award for Excellence in Dropout Prevention. Understanding and encouraging academic self-concepts of African-American male STEM students may lead to better time-management strategies, improved grades, and confidence and success in the classroom, according to a recent study. Clemson University’s Eugene T. Moore School of Education recently celebrated the return of the Literacy Research Association Yearbook. Wells Fargo has given $210,000 to Clemson University to support the Call Me MISTER and Emerging Scholars programs.
