College of Health, Education, and Human Development alumni magazine, 'THE HEHD LEADING EDGE'  College of Health, Education and Human Development Dean Lawrence R. Allen has announced that he will step down as dean effective July 1. Clemson's NDPC has entered into an agreement with the S.C. Department of Education to analyze needs and provide support to the state’s 26 at-risk schools. High school teachers from around the globe have come to the School of Education to learn best practices in education. The Jonas Center for Nursing and Veterans Healthcare has awarded the Clemson University School of Nursing a $40,000 grant to fund nursing Ph.D. scholarships -- part of an effort to stem the national nursing faculty shortage. The program has received $1.3 million from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to collaborate with Jackson State University to increase the number of African-American male teachers in Mississippi K-8 classrooms. How can computer games help America’s schoolchildren learn? That’s the central question to be explored at the 2014 Playful Learning Summit May 16-17 at Clemson. Shannon can do the “Cha Cha Slide,” and the virtual character will be rebooted over the next year as part of a Clemson research project that could help explain whether real-world movement helps students — especially girls — learn. School of Nursing researchers say that providing better sleep quality and proper sedation for ICU patients will decrease their levels of delirium.
