There are three big changes between Academic Eligibility and Continuing Enrollment (prior to Fall 2008)
1)
Academic Alert - this will occur on a semester basis. If a student's earned
semester GPR is below a 1.5, that student will be placed on Academic
Alert. This alert will not show on the student's transcript, nor will
any notification be sent to the student's mailing address. This alert
is for advisers to use to help a student before the student's academic
record is adversely affected too much. A student will be placed on
alert even if the student's cumulative GPA is above a 2.0.
2) 2.4 on
12 exemption clause - the previous exemption clause stated that a
student had to pass at least 12 hours and earn a 2.2 semester GPA or raise
his/her cumulative GPA to the desired minimum cumulative grade-point
ratio (MCGPR) level to remain enrolled. The new exemption clause
requires a student to pass at least 12 hours and earn a 2.4 semester GPA or
raise his/her cumulative GPA to the desired MCGPR level to remain
enrolled. Raising this exemption clause by two-tenths of a point will help a student reach the desired cumulative 2.0 for graduation requirements more quickly.
3) New MCGPR table - this table has been condensed for clarity.
Total Credit Hour Level MCGPR
16-29 1.75
30-59 1.85
60-89 1.95
90+ 2.00
Total credit hour level includes all credit hours attempted at Clemson, plus any advanced standing received from transfer credits and credits based on approved examination programs.
