Resources for Science Students

Student Services

The student services team helps undergraduate and graduate students navigate the variety of options for study in the College of Science. The team serves as a central resource for current and prospective students, and coordinates efforts to recruit, advise, and retain top-tier students and provide engagement opportunities.

Mentoring

College can be an adjustment. Wouldn’t it be great to have someone who has been there before support and guide you around the pitfalls, helping you reach your full potential? We thought so. Student success is important, which is why we created the COSMIC, ScienceNet and Tigers on Call mentoring programs.

Ambassadors

Student Ambassadors represent the College of Science student body at campus and community events by using their personal experience to talk with prospective students about what it is like to be a Clemson Tiger. You will experience opportunities to improve your communication skills, become part of a team, grow professionally and form lasting friendships.

Organizations

Participating in extracurricular activities is a valuable part of college, because clubs and organizations present a chance to tailor your degree path to suit your post-college plans. If you want to get more involved in your major, take on a leadership role or meet peers with similar interests, membership in a club can be a great place to start.

Career Counseling

Clemson’s Center for Career and Professional Development, which was ranked No. 1 in 2018 by The Princeton Review, offers career counseling and interest inventories, resume and cover letter reviews, informational workshops, and job-search advice. Students interested in finding an internship or a cooperative education placement can also use the center as a resource. Think of it as Clemson’s one-stop shop for all things job oriented.

Live and Learn Together

Living-learning communities make the transition to college easier through support and peer connections. RiSE — Residents in Science and Engineering — is exclusively for students in STEM majors, offering in-hall academic support, world-class faculty and unique engagement opportunities. CONNECTIONS is an initiative for freshmen who identify as students of color or first-generation students. It offers mentoring that gives students an opportunity to meet with mentors one-on-one in small groups.

An Entrepreneurship Challenge

The College of Science Catalyst Competition is an entrepreneurship challenge open to College of Science student teams (currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students). It is a two-semester entrepreneurship program culminating in a pitch competition that seeks to support students in developing their innovative business ideas in the areas of science and technology.
