 Profile

Michael Makowsky is an assistant professor in the John E. Walker Department of Economics at Clemson University. His research explores the economics of law enforcement and the institutions that govern group behavior, including distributions of power, leadership, and religious proscription. Principal methodologies include applied microeconomics, laboratory experiments, and agent-based computational modeling. Dr. Makowsky‘s interdisciplinary research has been published in top peer-reviewed journals from a variety of disciplines, including the American Economic Review, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Law & Economics, Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, Mathematical Social Science, Economics Letters, Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation, and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.
