Retirees' Employment Service

The Retirees' Employment Service program, or R.E.S, places retired Clemson employees into positions that need experienced labor quickly. This service is designed to help Clemson University reach its 10-year goals approved by the Board of Trustees on January 26, 2001.

R.E.S. helps the hiring department and the employee equally. A hiring department benefits with people who are already familiar with Clemson University. The department also receives the highest quality labor available for such positions. Associates in both programs find the opportunities in different departments to be refreshing and interesting. Associates also enjoy the ability to go back to their normal routine after the assignment has been completed.

Retirees are and always will be an active ingredient in the making of the university. In an effort to promote the “ONE Clemson” concept, Clemson University Office of Human Resources is placing more emphasis on our retirees and their contributions and worth to Clemson beyond retirement through the revitalization of the Retirees’ Employment Service (RES).

An updated database of retirees desiring to work temporarily or on an as needed basis is available. The retirees’ labor pool is to benefit both retirees and University departments.

What is RES? How does it work?
RES is our on-campus Retirees’ Employment Service. RES functions as a temporary agency to supply the campus with workers on an as-needed basis. The service consists of a pool of Clemson University retirees seeking to stay affiliated with Clemson through temporary or sporadic employment. Retirees are encouraged to enroll in this program for their knowledge base is insurmountable.

How does a retiree apply to RES?
Retirees: To apply for RES, complete and submit an application form to Recruitment Services the "RES" Employment Application form.

In the Process of Retiring: At the time of consultation with the Office of Human Resources Employment Analyst stop by the Recruitment Unit and you will be given a RES Employment Application form. If interested, complete and return the form to:

How does a department use RES?
To employ through the RES, call the Office of Human Resources Recruitment Manager at 656-2723 or email HRJob@clemson.edu with specific tasks to be performed, dates and time help is needed, and the rate of pay.
