The MHRD program was developed around the competencies identified by the International Society for Performance Improvement and the American Society for Training and Development as essential for effective leadership in the areas of human performance improvement. If admitted into the program, you must successfully complete a 36-semester-hour program comprised of 12 required courses.

HPI recognizes that not all performance problems in the
workplace can
or should be solved through training. For this reason,
alternative
strategies and techniques ranging from work redesign,

development, reward systems, feedback systems, ergonomics

psychometrics have become powerful alternatives for
improving
performance in the workplace.

activities in human
resource development (HRD) programs; identification,
selection and
organization of subject matter appropriate for
competency-based
training (CBT) programs: occupational analysis techniques;
rationale

participant evaluation; and instructional scheduling.

Introduction to commercially available instruments used to
assess and
evaluate human performance in the workplace. Students will

critical judgment skills in order to determine the

An introductory course in research designed to familiarize

performance improvement professionals with the nature of
research and
reporting processes and to help develop the necessary
criteria to
become critical, analytical, consumers of published

Students identify a special problem related to the human

Organizational Performance
Improvement (3 credits)
Organizational Performance Improvement provides concepts
and skills
employed by effective managers and change agents to
promote and sustain
productive organizations. Using the principles of
industrial/organizational psychology, students will learn
how to
perform behavior analysis and management, how to determine
criteria for
performance appraisals, and how to establish leadership in
the
workplace.
HRD 882 Knowledge Management for Improved Performance (3 credits)
This course is an introduction to knowledge management and
is designed
to familiarize students with organizational competencies
required to
adapt and prosper in a chaotic global environment. The
course focuses
upon contemporary theory, research and application of
knowledge
management as a strategy for improving personal and
organizational
performance.

they relate to
collegiate athletic coaching and the effect they have on
the
performance of the collegiate academic athlete. Collegiate
