Tenure-Track Faculty Position

We invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Public Health Sciences, Clemson University.  The position will begin August of 2013.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold an earned doctorate at the time of appointment in Epidemiology or related field and have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service.  

Responsibilities

The candidate’s primary responsibilities will include teaching epidemiology, research methods, or a course related to their expertise area.  Courses taught by the candidate are for students enrolled in a robust B.S. in Health Sciences undergraduate degree program with four concentrations (Preprofessional Studies in Health, Health Services Administration, Health Promotion and Education, Cardiovascular Imaging Leadership), non-majors enrolled in the undergraduate Certificate in Public Health program, and the B.S. degree program in Languages and International Health program (jointly administered with the Department of Languages).  Some teaching at the graduate level and graduate committee service is also expected.

Current Faculty

Current departmental faculty conduct research in the areas of health behavior, community health promotion, health services, health economics/health policy and have content expertise in aging, substance abuse, physical activity, nutrition, obesity, domestic violence, chronic disease prevention and control, and environmental health.  The faculty partner with regional hospital systems and other health care providers, state agencies, and universities including: the Greenville Hospital System, Oconee Medical Center, AnMed Health, Blue Ridge Orthopedics, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, the S.C. Department of Agriculture, the University of South Carolina, and the Medical University of South Carolina, in research, evaluation, and service initiatives.  There are significant opportunities for collaboration at Clemson University with other researchers in education, nursing, health services, food sciences, behavioral sciences, life sciences, business, architecture, computing and engineering.
