Greater Santee River Hydrologic Observatory

We are proposing that the greater Santee River watershed should be a Hydrologic Observatory as part of a program coordinated by the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Sciences (CUAHSI).  A preliminary team was put together in July 2004 to investigate the feasibility of proposing the Santee as an HO.  This effort lead to the preparation of a prospectus that gives an overview of the watershed and describes why we think this region is an excellent candidate for an Observatory.

Contributors in this effort include people from Clemson University, University of South Carolina, Furman University, College of Charleston, University of Tennessee, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, US Geological Survey, South Carolina Department of Resources, Army Corps of Engineers, US Forest Service, Duke Energy, South Carolina Department Health and Environmental Control, North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

We are actively seeking new collaborators for this project and would welcome your involvement.  Contact Larry Murdoch (lmurdoch@clemson.edu), or Venkat Lakshmi (vlakshmi@geol.sc.edu).
