Women in the field

Hundreds of South Carolina women helped relieve the wartime farm labor shortage during World War II. Clemson Extension assisted farmers in developing neighborhood and community plans for full use of farm machinery and equipment. Extension was also able to assist 7,353 farmers in obtaining 54,564 seasonal and 628 year-round laborers. ~ 1943 Extension Annual Report

Today, Clemson continues to support women in agriculture through the South Carolina Women's Agricultural Network (SC WAgN).

SC WAgN offers on-farm education; hands-on workshops; conferences; networking; mentoring; and online information sharing tools.
