2015 4-H Club Summer Camp

A South carolina tradition for over 50 years, 4-H Club Summer Camp offers traditional camp activities with plenty of fun, friends and adventure. This year you have 2 dates and locations to choose from. This is a very professionally staffed camp that will reward your child with a wonderful week. Activities will include the following: swimming, climbing wall, archery, canoeing, field games, crafts, team building, shooting sports and much more. 2015 4-H Wild at Webb Camp - June 8-12, 2015

All youth ages 10 to 13 residing in South Carolina with an interest in shooting sports and natural resources are invited to attend a week long residential program at the Webb Wildlife Center in Garnett, SC. 2015 4-H Camp Wild

This is a regional camp composed of youth from Lancaster, York, Chester, Union, Newberry, and Fairfield counties and is staffed by 4-H Extension Agents and trained volunteers.

 

Day and 1/2 Day Camps

 Below is a listing of day camps that we have offered for this summer. Be sure to check back often as we add more opportunities. If there are other ideas for camps let us know and we will work toward making it a reality:

June 2015

  • June 8-10 --- 4-H Science Retreat at Clemson University -- This overnight retreat at Clemson University’s DNA Learning Center will be focused on forensics activities: extracting and running tests on DNA. Designed as an opportunity to explore advanced science concepts, this retreat also allows participants to tour a college campus and begin thinking about the future of their education, whether at Clemson or elsewhere. Open to rising 9th-12th grade youth. Space is limited to the first 30 that sign up.

        • What:              Forensics/DNA analysis

  • June 15-19 -- STEM Mentor Camp --- High School and College students will train to be STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Counselors, then assist with the ClubScience STEM Camp. Cost is $30 per youth and includes lunch each day, a certificate, and a t-shirt. Will be held at the Fort Lawn Community Center.

   

  • June 17-19 --- ClubScience STEM Camp --- This 3 day camp will focus on science and technology as youth explore hands-on activities such as Robotics, Rocketry, Bridge Design and Construction, Wind Energy, and much more. Limited to the first 20 youth to register.

        • Where:      Fort Lawn Community Center
        • When:       June 17-19 from 9am to 3pm each day
        • What:        STEM Camp
        • How Much: $30 per child covers all program fees and lunch for the week

 JULY 2015

  • July 7-9  ----  4H2O Camp -- Spend a few days on/around the water learning about local wildlife and learning the importance of water quality and conservation. Explore the watershed and water life. Includes water chemistry, macro invertebrates, kayaking and more. Campers will spend considerable time outdoors so dress accordingly and bring plenty of sunscreen.

  • July 13 --- 4-H Cloverbud Sewing Class --- Pre-registration is required.

  • July 14-15 -- 4-H Sewing Day Camp
        • When:        July 14 and 15 (both days required)

  • July 21-23  -- ClubScience Forensics Camp -- Forensics and crime scene investigative fun. This camp is co-sponsored by United Way of Lancaster County and the Lancaster County Sheriff's Department.
        • When         July 21 - 23 , 9am to 3pm

        • Who           Rising 5th through 8th grade
        • Fees           $30 per child; includes lunch

  • July 23 and 30 -- 4-H Quilting Day Camp --- This is a beginning quilting class open to youth age 9 to 17. We request that each student have some knowledge of how to use a sewing machine and can bring some basic supplies such as a machine, scissors, thread, ruler, straight pins, pencil and paper.  If you are unable to bring a machine, please let us know when you sign up.  The cost of the class is $10.00 per participant and the class will be limited to the first 7 students to register. 
      • When:       July 23 and July 30 (both days required) from 9:00am to 12:00pm
      • What:        Each student will learn the basics of quilt making; fabric, thread, needles, equipment, terminology, 1/4" seam allowance, piecing, putting the quilt together, machine and hand quilting, and finishing. A project will be completed
      • Where:      Osceola United Methodist Church located at 6575 Charlotte Hwy. Lancaster, SC
      • Hosted:      by Scrap Happy Quilters of Osceola UMC
      • Who:         Youth age 9 to 16
      • Fee:          Registration fee of $10 required.
