Dr. Greene has 60% Research and 40% Extension appointments. His research and Extension program focuses on improving the management of insect pests important in cotton and soybeans. Primary areas of emphasis include refinement of monitoring methods and treatment thresholds for hemipteran pests in cotton and soybeans, evaluation of new insecticide chemistries and delivery systems, alternative control strategies for important insects, and collaboration with researchers on other potential methods of detecting insect pests. Recent emphasis has been on management approaches for pestiferous insects of soybeans, particularly novel research on an invasive species (plataspid) recently discovered in the USA and emerged as an important pest in the crop.

Mr. Gunter is the State Extension Feed Grain Specialist working with corn, soybeans, grain sorghum, and small grains.  He is also involved with the planting, management, and harvest of the OVTs for these crops in the Coastal Plain. His area of expertise is having a good idea of what the growers in this state needs are for the crops listed because he comes from a farm in Lexington County where the same crops are grown with the help of irrigation.  He and his wife Toni enjoy watching their kids, Lindsey, Henry, and Ellie with their activities in sports and horseback riding and they all enjoy working on the family farm.

William helps area row crop farmers become more profitable and efficient by providing them with research-based information and recommendations in the areas of Crop and Soil Science. Hardee is the pesticide coordinator for Horry County, and he also conducts programs where private applicators can receive pest credits (CCHs) in order to maintain their current licenses. His programs and demonstrations are aimed at helping area producers stay current on new information and practices, as well as offering refresher courses on other topics of importance.

Dr. Mueller has a 60% administration, 20% extension and 20% research appointment. His extension program is focused on management of nematodes in cotton and soybean and the management of foliar diseases of soybean and cotton. His research currently focuses on evaluation of experimental nematicides for field crops as well as the host status of grain sorghum relative to Columbia lance and Southern root-knot nematodes. He is director of the Edisto Research and Education Center.

Dr. Reay-Jones has a 75% extension and 25% research appointment. His extension program focuses on improving the management of insect pests of crops, including corn, grain sorghum, tobacco, cotton, and soybean. Primary areas of emphasis include efficacy of transgenic corn producing Bt toxins, insecticide efficacy, and development of environmentally friendly control strategies. Research interests include dispersal and movement of insect pests, sampling and spatial ecology of insects.
