CLEMSON UNIVERSITY AGRICULTURE ALUMNI

ARTICLE I

NAME

The name of this organization is the Clemson University Agriculture Alumni, non-profit organization.

ARTICLE II

PURPOSE

The purposes of this organization are: to promote the best interests and welfare of Clemson University and the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences; to fully acquaint the membership of the organization with the progress and needs of Clemson University; to assist in communicating the University and the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences accomplishments and services to the people of South Carolina and the nation; to serve as an advocate for the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences within and outside of the University;  to encourage loyalty to the University and the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences and closer bonds of fellowship among its Alumni and friends by participating in, and providing, educational and charitable service to students, faculty, staff and members; to encourage youth to pursue careers in the agriculture and related industries; and to serve as a source of recruitment referral.

ARTICLE III

MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Membership shall consist of persons who have been officially enrolled at Clemson University in the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences for at least one academic semester or one summer session.

Section 2. The By-Laws of the organization may provide for other classes of membership in the Association.

ARTICLE IV

OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS

Section 1.
Board of Directors
The business of the organization shall be conducted by a Board of Directors. The number of Directors, the Area Chapters they represent, the Faculty and Student Appointments by the Academic Dean, their tenure of office and method of their election shall be provided in the By-Laws.

Section 2.
Officers
The Officers shall consist of President, President-Elect and Secretary. They shall be elected by the Board of Directors to terms of office as provided for in the By-Laws.

Section 3.
Executive Committee

There shall be an Executive Committee, the personnel of which shall be determined by the By-Laws. This Committee shall have duties and powers as may be delegated to it by the Board of Directors.

ARTICLE V

AMENDMENTS

This constitution may be amended at any annual meeting of the organization by a majority vote of two thirds of the members present and voting or by the Board of Directors at any regular or special meeting by a majority vote of two-thirds of the Board members present and voting, provided that notice of said amendment be circulated at least thirty (30) days prior to said meeting.

ARTICLE VI

MEETINGS

There shall be an annual meeting and regular or special meeting of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. The times and places for said meetings shall be set by the Board of Directors and notice given at least twenty-one (21) days prior to said meetings.
