CEFPACK's Labs and Equipment

CEFPACK has numerous labs at its disposal with a myriad of capabilities. One of the advantages to doing your research in a university setting is the vast expertise and equipment pool from which you can draw. Need to crush a pallet with 50 tons of force? We can do it. Need an electron microscope to see the surface of your new film? We've got access to that too. Below is a list of the labs housed within Packaging Science. This is just the beginning of what CEFPACK can do for you.
The DuPont "Miracle of Science" Packaging Evaluation Laboratory houses most of the equipment commonly used in CEFPACK research. Built with funds from DuPont Chemical Corp. this lab houses the extruders, coater/laminator and other converting equipment.
The Sonoco Transport Package Testing Laboratory contains all of the equipment needed for unit load and transport testing. Built in with funds from Sonoco Corporation, Hartsville SC, this lab has been performing ISTA and ASTM testing.
The Flavormark Retort Laboratory offers thermal processing of retort pouches and other packages.
The Harris A Smith Packaging Materials Laboratory Offers permeation, water and oxygen transfer testing.
The Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics offers an environment filled with creative air and opportunity. This lab specializes in design, prototyping and customer response.
