Applied Economics and Statistics
The Department of Applied Economics and Statistics is part of the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences. Departmental faculty are actively engaged in teaching, extension, and research activities at Clemson’s main campus and at several sites around South Carolina.
The Department offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Economics and Statistics with emphasis areas in Agribusiness, Community and Economic Development, and Economic and Statistical Analysis; and administers the Natural Resource and Economic Policy Concentration of the Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and Natural Resources. The Department also offers the Master of Science (M.S.) in Applied Economics and Statistics and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Economics. The Master of Science degree has both thesis and non-thesis options.
The Department serves South Carolina citizens via active Extension outreach programs in agricultural economics and community and economic development. These programs provide information and assistance to agricultural producers, agribusinesses, county and local governments, and other economic development groups.
The Department also has nationally and internationally recognized research programs. Areas of interest include: Applied Statistics, Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness, Regional Economics and Community Development, Environmental and Resource Economics.
