Agricultural and Biological Engineering

The Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering is an academic unit of professionals who discover, adapt and disseminate knowledge and technologies.

The focus is to enhance and sustain human and natural resources by integrating the basic biological and physical science and engineering principles with food, fiber and environmental systems.

Our department is made up of three program areas: Biosystems Engineering, Agricultural Mechanization and Business, and Agricultural Education. The Biosystems Engineering program offers two concentration areas: Applied Biotechnology and Natural Resources and Environment. The Agricultural Education program offers three areas of emphasis: Teaching, Education, and Leadership. Biosystems engineering

Biosystems engineering is a science-based engineering discipline that integrates engineering science and design with applied biological, biochemical and environmental sciences. Biosystems engineers apply engineering analysis and design to solve problems involving biological organisms and their natural or controlled environments.

The Agricultural Mechanization and Business (AGM) curriculum provides a sound educational experience based upon relevant technologies and basic business education necessary for success in modern agri-industrial careers.

Agricultural Education prepares and maintains professionals who can build on the knowledge-base of learning and teaching, improve the basis of curriculum development, demonstrate effective delivery methodologies, assess program relevance and effectiveness, and project future educational needs of people who are involved in or affected by the broad agricultural industry.
