Dr. Beth Kunkel and Dr. Marge Condrasky will be attending and presenting at the annual meeting of the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo in Philadelphia, PA from October 6-9. Nutritionists, chefs, registered dieticians, and culinary scientists from around the country will be coming together to share research and ideas about healthy eating.
Dr. Kunkel will be moderating a panel session centered around the results of research conducted through the Dietetics Based Practice Research Network. She will also be involved in an afternoon session on the topic of flavor, in which she’ll be joined from faculty members from Rutgers, UC-Davis, and UMass, as well as the VP for R&D at McCormick and Company, to discuss their research. Dr. Kunkel is a regular attendee at the FNCE and “looks forward to many of the sessions, where you get to learn from dietitians who have so much knowledge about and energy for what they do”.
Dr. Condrasky will be providing two oral presentations and one poster session at this year’s conference. Her presentations, which will be made during the Research and Practice Innovation session on the final day of the conference, are titled “Culinary Nutrition Training for Church Cooks with DASH Inspired Menus” and “Opinions of Practicing Dieticians from a Cooking Camp as Undergraduates”. The poster session, “Culinary Nutrition Skill Development of Pre-adolescent Cooking Camp Participants”, is co-authored by Elizabeth Dixon, MS graduate of the Food, Nutrition and Culinary Sciences program at Clemson, and Dr. Julia Sharp, Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Mathematical Sciences at Clemson.
