Immerse into a Spanish learning environment and local culture in the exciting and historic city of Pamplona, Spain in this faculty-led summer program. Investigate the Foods of Spain, in this Spanish immersion program, as it travels from farm to table through sensory evaluation and flavor development, commercial and retail markets, food processing, food safety and sanitation, and food laws and regulations. Also experience the culture first hand through excursions, classes, and interaction with host families.
You will complete 6-credit hours during the 5-week program, IS2100 – Cultural Communication and FDSC4200 – Cultural Exploration of Spanish Foods. Each course meets for 45 contact hours/3 credits. Courses are taught by Clemson faculty and international faculty from Educational Services Pamplona (ESPA) and the Public University of Navarre (UPNA). Classes meet Monday-Thursday, except during the 3rd week when classes meet Monday-Wednesday. Excursions and active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays. Prior to departure, you will take a language placement exam to determine your language level.
