A Nutrition and Flavor Analysis of the Smoothie

Smoothies have been gaining popularity in recent years.  There are many aspects of smoothies, from key ingredients to supplementary add-ins. These components offer diverse flavors and proposed health benefits. Many smoothie vendors tout the health benefits of the various ingredients.  A review of popular smoothie ingredients was conducted; health effects and flavor was evaluated.  Bee pollen, honey, soy, wheat grass, and whey protein were among the extra ingredients that can be optionally added to a smoothie for a higher cost.  After evaluating various ingredients and health claims, a team of students produced various smoothie blends to test the flavor, and texture of specific ingredient combinations.  Recipes were chosen based on nutritional quality, flavor, and price.  Nutritional and price analysis was conducted on the most refined smoothie recipe. Research to determine the most flavorful smoothie with the greatest health benefits is ongoing.
