Garden Club of America--2012 Corliss Knapp Engle Scholarship in Horticulture (Deadline: 2/10/12)

Summary:
The Garden Club of America (GCA) is offering the 2012 the Corliss Knapp Engle Scholarship in Horticulture for undergraduates, graduate students, advanced degree candidates, or non-degree-seeking applicants above the high school level.  The $2,000 scholarship is established to encourage the development of research, documentation, and teaching skills in the field of horticulture and to support study at an accredited college, university, or major botanic garden or arboretum.  Projects may include but are not restricted to plant propagation, photographic documentation of studies and research projects, the acquisition of skills for working with horticulture collections, and research in horticulture in the broadest sense.

Qualifications:
1)
Open to college undergraduates and graduate students, advanced degree candidates, or non-degree-seeking applicants above the high school level.

Application packet must consist of the following:
 
1) Completed Application Form (to download an application form [pdf], click here);

2) A short essay [Please explain what you know about the program you have selected, how it fits into your future plans and what knowledge and experience you hope to gain during this program. (Use separate sheet to answer)];

3) Two letters of recommendation.  One should include comments on your academic progress and achievement, personal qualities, and eligibility for the program you have selected.  The other should include information on the program you have selected and assurance that you have applied and can be accepted.
