2009 Rowland P. Alston, Sr., ’42 Award for Excellence in Public Relations

The Rowland P. Alston, Sr., ’42  Award for Excellence in Public Relations has been established to recognize outstanding Clemson University faculty or staff who, through programs and activities related to agriculture and/or natural resources, have provided Clemson University with positive visibility throughout South Carolina, the United States, and the world.  The recipient may be from any discipline or area of the university but utilizes agriculture or the natural resources as their vehicle of influence.

The Award includes a $1,000 stipend for the recipient and a Rowland P. Alston, Sr., ’42  Award for Excellence in Public Relations plaque.

Nominations are confidential, and nominees should not be apprised of their nominations. Additional guidelines and nomination forms are available in these 2 formats:

The Selection Committee will review the nominations and select the recipient. The recipients will be announced at the General Faculty/Staff Meeting on Wednesday, December 16, 2008.

Completed nomination packets must be received in the Dean’s Office of CAFLS, 101 Barre Hall,
no later than 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 16th.

 

 

To nominate an individual for The Rowland P. Alston, Sr., ’42 Award:

  1. Complete the above form by identifying the nominee, certifying that you have not notified the nominee that he/she is under consideration for the Award, and providing names of colleagues familiar with the nominee’s work.
  2. Attach a two‐page (maximum) statement explaining why you believe the nominee deserves The Rowland P. Alston, Sr., ’42 Award. Be specific in identifying and explaining the contributions of your nominee. Do not simply list activities and awards – address how the programs and activities related to agriculture and/or natural resources, have provided Clemson University with positive visibility throughout South Carolina, the United States, and the world.
  3. Provide two additional letters of support for the nominee. These letters may be from colleagues, clients and individuals significantly impacted or involved in the work of the nominee or individuals who can speak strongly toward the nominees credibility as a recipient of the award.
