I am acting Vegetable Entomologist, still do county agent work, 'supervise' the Horticulture Team, and am active in the SC Entomological Society, the SC Association of County Agricultural Agents, the Entomology Society of America, and the American Phytopathological Society. I work with vegetable and small fruit producers to help them employ Integrated Crop Management techniques to produce and protect their crops. I enjoy helping solve grower problems, mentoring younger professionals, and learning new things.

 Research Interests

Developing economic thresholds for pest management of vegetable and small fruit crops. I like to survey for natural enemies and identify environmental factors that promote them.

 Extension and Outreach

I have worked with plant breeders and other researchers to develop varieties with resistance to certain significant diseases and institute Integrated Pest Management programs to protect crops adequately while reducing environmental impact.
