In July of 2016, Paola joined the Clemson family as the Multicultural Nutrition Education Developer for the Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program. She comes from PASOs Programs, a statewide organization catered to improve health outcomes for Latino communities in South Carolina. She served 3 years with PASOs where the last year and a half she was the Director of Programs and Training. Paola currently serves as Health Team Chair for the Hispanic Alliance in Greenville, and the Greenville Mental Health Board. Paola is pleased to share and expand her knowledge about Latino communities; and access to health resources and health outcomes with the use of Community Health Workers (CHWs).
Paola will present for a second time in the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting. In 2015 she investigated and presented “Utilization of radiodramas and radio-based outreach to educate hard-to-reach Latino immigrant communities in South Carolina.” In 2016, she will present her findings in “Supporting CHWs through the Challenges of Program Expansion”for process and CHW/CHW supervisor morale sustainability.
