Research

My research interests are plant-parasitic nematodes and molecular systematics. I use molecular biology tools in studies involving nematode species of economic importance. I am particularly interested in research problems concerning reniform nematode (Rotylenchulus reniformis) and root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.). My applied research interests include the study of intraspecific variation, the impact of variants on breeding for plant resistance strategies, and the use of new technologies for the development of species identification methods. My basic research interests are phylogenetic analysis of population and species evolutionary processes, the integration of classical taxonomy with molecular systematics, and nematode reference collections.
