Dr. Layton has been named the first director of the School of Agricultural, Forest, and Environmental Sciences (SAFES) for a three-year appointment. She has been serving the School as Interim Director since last September. Prior to her interim appointment, she served as the Chair of Forestry and Natural Resources since 2000. SAFES brings together a variety of disciplines focused on sustainability. The interdisciplinary approach is designed to prepare students for careers in areas that are critical to the economic and environmental health of our state, nation and the world. Many faculty in the School are also involved in Clemson's Research and Extension programs.
