Clemson turf science alumnus wins prestigious teaching award

Totten Awarded Featured Faculy Scholar AwardDr. Wesley Totten, Clemson University plant and environmental science Ph.D (’06), was recently named the UT Martin Featured Faculty Scholar for fall of 2012.

Totten is associate professor of plant science in UT Martin’s Department of Agriculture, Geosciences, and Natural Resources.

The award recognizes excellence in teaching and scholarship and was given during a Nov. 15 ceremony.

Totten specializes in golf course and landscape management. He began as an assistant professor at UT Martin in 2007 and was promoted to associate professor in 2011.

Totten has had nine scholarly articles published and give 21 professional presentations. He was also named UT Martin’s 2012 Hardy Graham Distinguished Professor and received the 2011 North American College and Teachers of Agriculture Teaching Award for Merit.

UT Martin will display his work in the Paul Meek Library through the end of the fall semester.
