Meet Alumni

Meet just a few of the SCCSA Alumni from 2004 - 2014!

Anna Mink attended SCCSA in 2013 and is currently serving as the SC FFA President. She is currently attending Piedmont Technical College and is on track to transfer into the Agricultural Education program this upcoming Fall.

"Just as one of Clemson's football slogans reads "One Team, One Dream", we are also one team with one dream; just in this case we are all girls. Our dream is to leave all 6,000+ South Carolina FFA members with the hunger to dream more and become more with the opportunities that they have through Agricultural Education and the National FFA Organization. One of these opportunities is attending the South Carolina Commissioner's School of Agriculture, which is an experience that each member of our team was blessed to be a part of. Throughout our week at Commissioner's School, we each were able to get the feel of being a tiger for a week, and to grow and open our eyes to the world of agriculture around us and to learn what we can do to be the best advocates for South Carolina agriculture. There is no doubt that our weeks at Commissioner School gave us the determination and leadership abilities to become State FFA Officers, and we hope that each and everyone of the Commissioner's School alumni will choose to do the same!"

"I grew up on a 100-acre fruit and vegetable farm in York, SC where we grow strawberries, raspberries and other fruits and sell them at our roadside stands. I attended the 2005 SCCSA program and was able to get some insight into Clemson and the different majors offered. I came to Clemson in the Fall of 2006 and majored in Applied Economics. The Applied Economics major helped me build a foundation for running a small business. After I graduated from Clemson in May 2010 I began working full-time at the family farm, Bush-N-Vine Farm."

"The SCCSA provided me with a much greater understanding of how broad agriculture is.  I already knew that agriculture was more than farms and row crops but the SCCSA opened my eyes to the technology behind the industry.  It also gave me the opportunity to explore careers in agriculture that I never knew existed and it was through this program that I learned about Packaging Science as a major and a career path.  In my current role as a Packaging Engineer for the one of the world’s leading food and beverage companies, I develop packaging technologies that ensure that the products we sell to consumers are as fresh as they day they were made.  In addition to maintaining freshness and quality, I work to bring packaging innovations to market that truly delight our consumers."
