2007 PROGRAM STAFF

Commissioner Hugh E. Weathers
A third generation dairy farmer from Bowman, SC; Commissioner Weathers was appointed as Interim Commissioner of Agriculture for the State of South Carolina by the Executive Order of Governor Mark Sanford in September of 2004 and Commissioner of Agriculture in January of 2005. In November of 2006, he was elected by the people of South Carolina to serve a four-year term as Commissioner of Agriculture.

Paula Beecher

Coordinator of Student Relations and Career Services for the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences. Paula is from Grand Cane, LA and received her BS in Agricultural Economics from Louisiana State University. Paula is available to assist CAFLS students with their career service needs. She also assist with College Student Services.

 

 
Beth Crocker Email: bcrocker@scda.sc.gov

Attorney for the SC Department of Agriculture. Beth is from FL and received her BS in Animal & Veterinary Sciences from Clemson University. Beth went on to attend Drake University in Iowa for Law School and then completed her Masters in Agricultural Law at the University of Arkansas. Beth serves the SCDA in a variety of duties including oversight of any lawsuits and legal matters involving the Department, coordination of interns, as well as providing general legal consultation with the staff and Commissioner related to the Department's statutory authority and responsibilities.

 

 
Kim Erwin

Director of the Office of Recruiting, Advising and Career Services for the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences. Kim is from Clemson, SC and received her BS in Counseling from Lander University and her MS in Counseling from Clemson University. Kim serves as the CAFLS liaison to University student services programs in order to ensure comprehensive for the college.

Coordinator of Student Relations and Recruitment for the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences. Katie is from Summerville, SC and received her BS and MAgEd in Agricultural Education. Katie is available to assist students who are considering studying at Clemson and she provides retention and career services to students who are currently enrolled in the college.

Fiscal Analyst with the SC Department of Agriculture. Erin has live in a lot of places throughout her childhood, but has lived in Columbia, SC for the last 15 years. She attended Lander University and received an Associate in Business at Midlands Technical College.
Kirby Player Email: kplayer@clemson.edu
Executive Secretary to the CAFLS Alumni Organization. Kirby is from Bishopville, SC and received both his BS in Agricultural Education and his M. PRTM from Clemson University. Kirby also assists with assigned development projects and works with students applying to professional and graduate school.
Amy Sanders Email: amybs@clemson.edu
Coordinator of Student Services and Advising for the College of Agricutlure, Forestry and Life Sciences. Amy is from Pendleton, SC and received her BS in Elementary Education from Lander University. Amy coordinates the academic advising program and orientation for the college as well as serves as the academic advisor to students choosing the Agricultural Undeclared admissions option.

A Graduate Student completing her degree in Counselor Education and participating in a practicum experience with the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences. Caroline is from Simpsonville, SC and plans to continue working at the university level in student affairs.

Executive Director of the SC Soybean Board and currently serving as the International Relations representative for the SC Department of Agriculture. Aaron is from Plum Branch, SC and received his BS in Agricultural Education and Masters in Human Resource Development from Clemson University.

2007 COLLEGE COUNSELOR STAFF
Kati Bellamy Email: kbellam@clemson.edu
An alumnus of the 2005 SC Commissioner’s School for Agriculture, Kati is from Loris, SC. She is currently a sophomore in Agricultural Education at Clemson University with an emphasis in Pre-Rehabilitation Sciences. Kati plans to attend MUSC to receive a PhD in physical therapist and then continue her career to become a hippotherapist.

An alumnus of the 2005 SC Commissioner’s School for Agriculture, Laura Jane is from Fountain Inn, SC. She is currently a sophomore in Agricultural Education at Clemson University and plans to become an AgEd Teacher.

An alumnus of the 2004 SC Commissioner’s School for Agriculture, Russell is from Johnston, SC. He is a senior in Agricultural Mechanization and Business at Clemson University and is currently interning with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Josh O’Rear Email: jorear@clemson.edu
Working with the SC Commissioner's School for Agriculture for the 3rd year, Josh is from Saluda, SC. Josh is a senior in Agricultural & Applied Economics at Clemson University. Josh is currently an International Trade intern with the SC Department of Agriculture, serves as a CAFLS Student Ambassador, and plans to work overseas in international agriculture after graduation.
