Costs and Tuition
Clemson University has implemented a new, interactive Tuition and Fee Calculator developed by Student Financial Services and the Office of Finance and Operations. The online calculator provides graduate, online and undergraduate students an estimate of their academic tuition, fees and essential costs associated with attending Clemson University. The University encourages students and potential students to use this tool as a primary resource for estimating costs. While the tool does not calculate a final student bill, information on tuition and fees is communicated on the Student Financial Services web page.
Low tuition costs and the moderate cost of living in the area make Clemson one of the most reasonable options for graduate students. Monetary figures are subject to change dependent on board or legislative budget actions. Lab, health, and activity fees may vary.
Graduate Teaching Assistantships
Assistantships are available to graduate students in Planning, Design and the Built Environment on a competitive basis. Assistants are paid bi-weekly for their work.
Students on assistantships receive a tuition reduction to $1030 per semester and earn $18,800 for the academic year. Applicants should review the graduate school web page for any changes in tuition reduction. Remember that these figures are approximate and may change yearly. Graduate Assistants pay an additional for season football tickets. While we understand the financial burden on students, full-time students (12 credit hours or more) are strongly encouraged not to work over 20 hours per week in all employment positions. We have found that excessive outside work can place excessive stress on students.
Living in Clemson
Enjoy the sunny, four-season climate of Clemson that has long spring and fall season. Clemson is only 45 minutes away from the Blue Ridge Mountains, and only 30 minutes from Greenville. Clemson’s location provides students with an array of housing locations and options. The cost of living in Clemson is substantially lower than most universities, making it an affordable graduate school option. On-Campus Housing
Clemson University has on-campus, apartment-style housing designed for the specific needs and lifestyles of graduate students. Apartments are available on a 9 or 12-month lease. Each apartment is double occupancy, thus allowing space for privacy in an area conducive to studying. Clemson also provides comfortable and economical family housing with 100 apartments, conveniently located on campus, for married and single-parent students. Off-Campus Housing
Planning students often live off-campus in private apartments in the surrounding area. Students typically pay between $400 (for a basic apartment) and $500 a month for a newly constructed garden apartment that may include washer/dryer, pool, tennis, etc. Costs depend on the size of the apartment, number of roommates, and amenities. Search for apartments in Clemson, Central and surrounding communities on websites such as www.apartmentlist.com, www.apartmentguide.com, or www.rent.com.
