PSA Animal Farms Infrastructure

Nonrecurring Request $15,466,000

Clemson University PSA’s animal farms are located principally on the Piedmont Research and Education Center near campus and support the teaching, research and outreach activities of the University in livestock production and animal care. The farms are mostly used by the faculty and students of the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences within the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences. These animal farms will complement the new College of Veterinary Medicine, serving as research centers and educational spaces to learn “hands-on” skills for large animals.

Specifically, the College of Veterinary Medicine needs both a Food Animal Skills Teaching Center and Equine Skills Teaching Center near existing animal farm operations.

The requested funds will not only provide critical infrastructure at the animal farms for the College of Veterinary Medicine but will also enhance the undergraduate and graduate programs in the existing Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences.
