Certificate Programs

The College of Education offers opportunities for students to engage in certificate programs that enhance their overall educational experience and prepare them for leadership opportunities across their lives and careers. The Athletic Leadership Certificate addresses the need of leadership development and ethical decision making in the intercollegiate athletic coaching and administrative community; and the STEAM Certificate helps educators who seek to incorporate STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) teaching into their curriculum.

The College of Education offers courses that will lead to add-on licensure/certification in ESOL (K-12). Students must hold a valid S.C. license/certificate (though in some instances course work toward the add-on may begin during initial candidacy). Add-on licensure/certification is administered through the S.C. Department of Education. See: Steps for adding license/certificate areas. Specific courses that may be needed are listed in the South Carolina Educator Licensure/Certification Manual.

These certificate programs are part of the College of Education's commitment to developing leadership that will systemically improve education and affect positive change in classrooms, athletic fields, businesses and all the places students work and serve after graduation.
