Special Leadership Opportunities

Club Level Program

4-H Junior Leadership

The purpose of 4-H Junior Leadership is to teach youth ages 11-13 the importance of understanding themselves as a leader, the value of teamwork, realistic goal setting, communication skills, community service learning, and money management. Through completion of a county-wide training, these youth will be prepared to assist their volunteer club leader with various aspects of club leadership and organization.

County Level Program

County 4-H Teen Council

The purpose of the County 4-H Teen Council is to serve as the teen-age leadership team that assists in planning and implementing various countywide initiatives and events. Under the guidance of an adult volunteer advisor, these teens expand their leadership responsibilities as they become role models for the county-wide 4-H program.

State Level Programs

State 4-H Ambassador Training

The purpose of the 4-H Ambassador Program is to enhance and utilize the leadership, citizenship, and communication skills of 4-H teens and volunteers. They will then be prepared to actively educate the public about the South Carolina 4-H Program and the important youth and community issues 4-H addresses. Ambassadors are the public image of 4-H across the state.

State 4-H Teen Weekend

The goal of the State 4-H Teen Weekend is to inspire teens to become more active citizens and challenge them to find ways to make a difference in their local communities – not just once, but to make service a lifelong habit.

State 4-H Congress

The goal of State 4-H Congress – a four day personal development conference - is to motivate teens to expand their 4-H knowledge and leadership skills while celebrating and recognizing teens who “make the best better”.

State 4-H Teen Council

The purpose of the State 4-H Teen Council is to serve as the leadership team that plans, organizes and implements statewide teen initiatives and events. This includes (but is not limited to) the State 4-H Ambassador Trainings, Teen Weekend, and Congress.

National Level Programs

National 4-H Conference

National 4-H Conference is an intensive, week long leadership and citizenship program designed to involve teens, volunteers, and professionals in national and state program development. Through a variety of workshops, participants have an opportunity to advise and make recommendations on topics identified as important to 4-H. Issues are also discussed with legislators during Capitol Hill visits.

National 4-H Congress

National 4-H Congress is a youth leadership development conference. It provides teens with a quality, educational, and service learning experience designed to develop a teen’s ability to become a capable, competent, and caring citizen.
