Club Level Programs

Club Officer & Chairmanships

Members of a 4-H Club may be elected or appointed to an officer or committee chairman position. These leadership roles allow youth to begin learning responsibility and accountability as they take on these peer leadership roles. Through training and mentoring, 4-H officers and chairmen are taught the fundamentals of planning and conducting a business meeting, facilitating group discussion, and the basics of Robert's Rules of Order. County/Regional Level Programs

4-H Senior Leadership

The purpose of the South Carolina 4-H Senior Leadership Program is to enhance the leadership, citizenship, and communication skills of 4-H teens. Through this advanced communications training, teens are prepared to educate the public and other clubs about 4-H programs and important youth activities that 4-H has to offer. Senior Leaders are the 4-H spokespeople across the state. 4-H Senior Leadership Training will prepare youth to serve as assistants to the County 4-H Agent. Participants will create their own personal action plan of how they will carry out this new responsibility.

4-H Officer Leadership

The purpose of the South Carolina 4-H Club Officer Training is to introduce youth to the importance of responsible leadership, how to organize a club meeting or activity, and how to practice their leadership skills in 4-H.  Through leadership training, 4-H Officer Leaders will learn about parliamentary procedure, facilitating group work, and the connection between citizenship and leadership.

4-H Junior Leadership

The purpose of 4-H Junior Leadership is to teach youth ages 11-13 the importance of understanding themselves as a leader, the value of teamwork, realistic goal setting, communication skills, community service learning, and money management. Through completion of a county-wide training, these youth will be prepared to assist their volunteer club leader with various aspects of club leadership and organization.

County 4-H Teen Council

The purpose of the County 4-H Teen Council is to serve as the teen-age leadership team that assists in planning and implementing various countywide initiatives and events. Under the guidance of an adult volunteer advisor, these teens expand their leadership responsibilities as they become role models for the county-wide 4-H program. Handbook (226 KB, PDF).

State Level Programs

State 4-H Ambassador Training

The purpose of the 4-H Ambassador Program is to enhance and utilize the leadership, citizenship, and communication skills of 4-H teens and volunteers. They will then be prepared to actively educate the public about the South Carolina 4-H Program and the important youth and community issues 4-H addresses. Ambassadors are the public image of 4-H across the state.

State 4-H Congress

Leadership Camps (coming in 2011)

Regional 4-H Leadership Camps are designed to provide an intensive leadership experience. The Bronze Clover Camp focuses on service learning; the Silver Clover Camp focuses on civic engagement; and the Gold Clover Camp focuses on business and entrepreneurial skills.

Youth/Adult Partnership Training (coming in 2011)

The purpose of the youth/adult partnership training is to help youth and adults understand the need to work in partnership in making decisions about programs that affect them and to develop strategies to work together in their communities. This training is designed primarily for teams of youth and adults who will be working together.

State 4-H Teen Council

The purpose of the State 4-H Teen Council is to serve as the leadership team that plans, organizes and implements statewide teen initiatives and events. This includes State 4-H Congress.  National Level Programs

National 4-H Conference

National 4-H Conference is an intensive, week long leadership and citizenship program designed to involve teens, volunteers, and professionals in national and state program development. Through a variety of workshops, participants have an opportunity to advise and make recommendations on topics identified as important to 4-H. Issues are also discussed with legislators during Capitol Hill visits. Selection Information.

National 4-H Congress

National 4-H Congress is a youth leadership development conference. It provides teens with a quality, educational, and service learning experience designed to develop a teen’s ability to become a capable, competent, and caring citizen. Selection Information.
