Activities

All 4-H2O camps include the following activities where summer camp meets watershed science!

  • Learning about your local watershed through maps, on foot, in canoes, and on boats;
  • Water quality testing – what defines a healthy waterbody? How do we measure a waterbody’s health?
  • A closer look at river and estuarine ecosystems – what lives in our waterways, even at the very bottom of the food chain? Do different organisms and fish tell a story about a waterbody’s health? How does a healthy ecosystem affect us? And, even moreso, how do we affect ecosystems?

Each camp will cover these important topics. Additionally, each camp may add in boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing and possibly field trips, unique to each county’s program. All programs emphasize exploring streamside and watershed science, all disguised in a fun summer camp experience!
