MEMBERSHIPS, EXAMINATIONS
AND PROFESSIONAL LICENSES

The following guidelines are for payment of individual membership, courses of study, and professional licenses.

Individual memberships are allowed only when the organization does not permit agency or institutional memberships or it is less costly to the institution to have an individual membership. Membership in an organization must relate specifically to the job of the individual or the function of the agency and the department's director must be able to demonstrate how the membership benefits his department or the institution.

Cost of examination and professional licenses cannot be paid. However, courses of study, seminars, etc., that prepare the individual for such exams can be paid if they are considered professional development and are related to the individual's current job responsibilities.
