YCYA Missions
Our Youth are ready to tackle issues facing York County!
We completed our first mission: protecting our local environment. Participants learned about the challenges facing York County's environment and how they can take a leadership role in ensuring our natural resources are preserved and protected. Participants also learned more about themselves through leadership and teamwork activities.
The class chose a service project as a way to give back while putting to work the knowledge and skills they gained during the mission. The service project including educating York County residents on the damage pollutants can have to our water supply by marking storm drains in a Rock Hill neighborhood. The message of the storm drain markers, "Only Rain Down the Storm Drain," will serve as a constant reminder to all local residents to make sure they curb the runoff from their property.
