4-H Meat Goat Project

2010_oburg_goatYouth ages 5-18 can raise a meat goat. The Meat Goat is a relatively inexpensive, short term project and has many educational benefits. Participants will learn how to properly care for, show and keep records on a project goat.Through participation in local county shows and the end of the project show, youth will be able to show how well they have cared for their goat and prepared the goat and themselves for the show ring. A Data Book must be turned in at the final show to be judged and scored. Goats are sold at the end of the project show, with youth receiving money.
