Register Now For 4H Summer Camp

There will be a 4H Summer Camp this summer at Camp Long in Aiken, SC.  The residential camp is for ages 8 to 14 and will take place June 10 to 14 for Midlands youth.Some of the opportunities that will take place at the camp include water activities such as canoeing, swimming, and paddle boats.  There will also be nature hikes, team sports, nightly skits and games, and a dance and talent show.The facilities at the camp include a recreational building, basketball court, baseball field, and an 18 acre pond for swimming and canoeing, a team challenge course, a climbing wall, zip line, and hiking trails.Those whose register now will receive the 4H discount.  The discounted fee is $250 for the week.  The deadline for early camp registration forms is April 12.  The 4H membership fee is $10.00 plus a $75.00 non-refundable camp registration fee.Those interested can also apply for a summer camp scholarship which is only available for 4H members that have pre-registered for camp.  Scholarships are limited and not guaranteed.  Parents are responsible for camp fee balances and transportation to camp. 4H Small Gardening Project

   Do you have a “green thumb”?   Would you like to learn more about how to grow your own vegetables to share with others?  Then the 4H Small Garden Project is for you!    Learn how to prepare, plant, maintain, and harvest a small garden. You will get to taste and cook your vegetables, and you may have enough produce to sell at the local farmers market. Youth will be provided with the rules for the project, supplies, information and reminders of what to do next, tips for a better harvest, or recipes for your vegetables. A small garden, at least 100 square feet, is required.  Open to youth ages, 5 to 19.The cost of the project is $15 for 4H members and $25 for non-members.  Fee includes a soil sample, seeds for one vegetable, a garden tool, and printed information.  Deadline to register is April 25.
