Do you have chickens? If so, the 4-H Laying Flock Project allows youth, ages 5-19, who have a flock of laying hens to show their birds and have eggs judged for a chance to win premiums and ribbons. There are also monthly meetings where youth will learn health and flock management skills. Deadline to register is next Wednesday, April 10. Contact our office or follow the link below to access information. Cost for this project is only $10 (+$10 4-H membership fee if not already payed). http://www.clemson.edu/extension/county/lancaster/programs/4h/animals.html

Check out this egg from one of our 4-H youth!!

Thought I would share this picture of our double yolk egg and a purchased large white egg. Amazing! Hard working girl "Big Red" lays these quite often.

The question was asked... How do I get my kids signed up in 4-H? It is very easy. Youth age 5 to 19 are eligible for 4-H participation and the yearly membership fee is only $10. With the $10 membership youth will receive a t-shirt and be able to take advantage of all of the opportunities offered in SC 4-H. The 4-H year starts on September 1st, but you may join at any time. If you, your child, or someone you know is interested, contact Steve Hucks at the Lancaster Extension office either by phone (803) 283-3302 ext. 111 ... or by email chucks@clemson.edu to request the needed forms. I am also going to work on getting our website updated with all the needed links.
