Junior Naturalist

The Junior Naturalist Program is a series of half day Saturday programs covering a wide variety of topics within our natural world. The topics covered correspond with the science curriculums for grades 3-6. Youth will learn about and gain experiences in topics ranging from birds and insects to weather.

Five of the ten program series will be offered each year. Two programs will be offered every fall and every spring and 1 program will be offered each winter. Complete 5 of the 10 offered Junior Programs, within a 2 year time period and earn the status of Junior Naturalist. Receive a t-shirt and naturalist tool upon earning the status!

This program series is for youth ages 8-13. Each program costs $10.00 which includes a morning snack, notebook and materials for the program.

Youth should dress in sturdy shoes for each program they are attending as that hiking will be a small part of most programs.

Programs for 2010/2011 included Junior Stream Ecology, Junior Dendrology, Junior Geology, Junior Herpetology, and Junior Wildlife Biology.
