Purpose: The purpose of the SC Peanut Yield Contest is to promote improved peanut management in South Carolina and to recognize outstanding producers.
Eligibility: The SC Peanut Yield contest is sponsored by the SC Peanut Board and Clemson University, and is open to SC peanut growers producing 40 or more acres of dry peanuts. Green peanut production is excluded.
Requirements: Total Acreage - The entire peanut acreage of a farm operator will be used to determine official yield. Where a contestant is producing peanuts under more than one FSA number, the total acreage from all of these FSA numbers will be combined to determine yield.
Total Net Weight - The wieght used for average yield calculation will be the total net weight of all peanuts produced by a farm operator on all farms in all counties. This weight will be taken from the sum of all production reported from the buying point(s).
Yield Certification = The official yield will be computed by dividing the total pounds of peanuts produced by the contestant by the FSA documented total peanut acreage. This yield will be certified by the grower's signature and county agent's signature to a statement that they have verified the total production net weight from the buying point and the FSA acreage.
County Record - The official entry will be from the county of residence. Where a grower operates in two or more counties, the official yield will be based on the total production weight and total acreage from all counties.
Submission Deadline: The mailed entry must be postmarked by December 28, 2009.
