The ServSafe® food safety training uses material from the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and is taught by Clemson University faculty who are certified as instructor trainers by the NRA. Guest speakers and lab activities are incorporated into the course.

Manager Training & Exam - 2 days (9hours)

$175 per person

Produce and cutting board

Appropriate for restaurant managers and assistant managers, chefs, dietitians, culinary arts instructors, school food service managers, Family and Consumer Science instructors, and others. Upon successful completion of the exam, participants will receive a certificate from the National Restaurant Association and be registered in their data base. The certificate should be renewed every five years.

Servsafe® Exam Only

$50 per person

This option is for food service professionals who have previously been ServSafe® certified and are looking to renew their certificate without additional training. The exam can be taken on the second day of a scheduled training or individually scheduled at the Clemson Extension Office in Beaufort, Berkley or Greenville County. Please contact:

There is a maximum of 25 students per class and registration is on a first-come, first served basis. Each class must also meet a minimum of 15 students. The course is subject to cancellation if this minimum is not met.

Thermometer calibration

Employee Training - 6-10 hours

$40 per person

This class can be tailored to your group. Successful completion of this class will help your operation qualify for the South Carolina Hospitality Association’s “Seal of Commitment,” and each employee will receive a certificate.

Each employee receives training in:

  • basic sanitation
  • personal hygiene
  • receiving and storage
  • preparing, cooking & serving food
  • cleaning & sanitizing

Cost for the course includes:

  • ServSafe® Employee Guide from the National Restaurant Association
  • thermometer
  • certificate of completion

Cutting peppersEmployee Training - 4 hours

$25 per person

This class is for food service employees who are on a tight schedule. Successful completion of this class will help your operation qualify for the South Carolina Hospitality Association’s “Seal of Commitment,” and each employee will receive a certificate.
