Gray Leaf Spot
This fungal disease commonly attacks St. Augustinegrass (a. k. a. ("Charleston grass"). Infected leaves and stems have small, oblong, tan lesions with purple borders. The gray spores can sometimes be seen during warm, wet weather. When severe, the entire lawn may look scorched.
Control: Plant resistant cultivars. Avoid excessive rates of nitrogen fertilization and water during the early morning hours. Fungicides are available.
